On 11 September 2019, Selfcare received the MedMij-label (and we are proud of it!). The Selfcare Personal Health Environment (PHE) successfully completed the onboarding process and now officially meets all MedMij requirements!
There is increasing evidence that well-informed and engaged individuals contribute to meaningful care and experience a better quality of life. Gaining more control over your health data is not a goal in itself but a first step toward a healthier Netherlands. That’s why the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport,the Dutch Patient Federation, and Nictiz initiated MedMij.
Sustainable Information Exchange for Healthcare
The MedMij Framework contributes to the safe and user-friendly exchange of personal, sensitive, and confidential health data between personal health environments and healthcare providers. The exchange goes in two directions; individuals can collect data and share information.

Joining MedMij
With the MedMij Framework , anyone who wants to can access their health data in a personal health environment. The MedMij onboarding process includes assessment, intake, testing, strict qualification, acceptance, and of course, going live. All of these steps have now been successfully completed.
Selfcare is Ready for the Future
Selfcare meets all standards so that anyone can easily collect, manage, and share data. Selfcare is now capable of connecting with professional healthcare systems, such as those of GPs, pharmacies, or labs. Users can view and manage their personal health information, stored in various places, in a single overview. The data can be shared securely and reliably with a healthcare provider, whenever and wherever needed.
What’s next?!
A PHE includes different options and possibilities and requires a redesign of the existing online platform. Now that the first data transfers have been completed, it’s time to give Selfcare a fresh new look…
